In the Andaman and Nicobar islands , a total of 733.12 sq. km. of area have been brought under protected areas under Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. and 6 National Parks, whose area is 361.79 sq km, and also 94 Sanctuaries . Of the National Parks 2/3 rd area is marine water area.

Saddle peak National
Park : Which covers an area of 33 sq km, and
is near Diglipur.
Luxuriant tropical rain forest is found here and here you will get to see
Andaman wild pig, Water monitor lizard, Salt water crocodile,
Birdslike Andaman hill mynah and imperial pigeon:

North Button National
Park: :
This park is located 60 km away from Long Island,
here you will find animals like Dugong,Water
Monitor,Lizard etcVisit this park between
December-March.
Middle Button National
Park: :
This extends over an area of 64 sq km and consists of
mostly deciduous forests. You will find here , Spotted
Deer, Monitor,Water Lizard and marine species. :
You can visit this park between December-April
South Button Island
National Park: :
It covers an area of 2sq.km. The nearest town is Long
Island .Here also you will get to see dugong,
dolphin, water monitor, lizard etc. The
best time for visiting the park are December-April
Mount Harriet National
Park :
This covers a larger area of around 47 sq km and is
at the distance of 20km from Port Blair. Here you can
find the Andaman Wild Pig .Best months
to visit are January-March.
