The bull temple is situated in the N.R.Colony area of south bangalore.it is the biggest bull temple i.e it has the biggest idol of Bull in the world.the idol is carved out of stone.
There is also a ganesha idol inside the bull temple and hence also known as Dodda ganeshana gudi.the bull is also a sacred hindu god and is known by the name of NANDI. nandi was also the close devotee and bodyguard of SHIVA.
In many shiva temples and shiva lingas around india we find nandi idols as well. nandi is a demi god and has the head of a bull and the body of a man.
South India Festivals- Jallikattu Bull Fight Festival Tamil Nadu is a very energetic and daring festival.
It is mainly held in Madhurai, Tiruchirapalli and Tanjore in Tamil Nadu and several places in Andhra Pradesh.
Tamil Nadu Festivals - In Jallikattu Bull Fight cattle are ornamented with garlands. Their horns are colored to red, pink and other bright colors, and mango leaves are hung round their necks.
These fully adorned cattle after full grooming are led about in procession. People hording together for this procession, worship them.
South India Festivals and Tamil Nadu Festivals - However after all the worships, the unarmed villagers very daringly fight with these untamed bulls. In this fight villagers try to wrest the bundle of money tied to the horns of the bulls.
After, the main event of the last day of Pongal Festival, Bullock cart races and cock-fights are also held to make the day more special and vibrant.
Festival lasts for four days altogether. Festivals in South India - Each day is given one separate name, like the first day is Bhogi Pongal, Surya Pongal is the second day of this festival, Maattu Pongal the third day and Kaanum Pongal the fourth day marks the end of this harvest festival.
However, this last day of the festival features the main event of the day with Jallikattu Bull Fight.

A vibrant image of the demon greets the tourists as they climb up the summit.The temple also houses several images of Nandi (the bull mount of Shiva). The admired of these is the colossal Nandi on the 800th step on the hill. This Nandi is over 15 feet high and 24 feet long. It was shaped during the reign of Dodda Devaraja.The temple also features shrines dedicated to Shiva - Mahabaleshwar (endorsed to Vishnu Vardhana the Hoysala ruler of the 12th century CE) and Lakshmi Narayana - Vishnu on this hill are the famous temples in karanataka.
Devi Chamundi is the tutelary Goddess of the Wodeyar kings, who lavished gifts on the temple. A sculptured gopura, constructed by Krishnaraja Wodeyar (1794-1868), adorns the entrance to the shrine. In the sanctum, the Goddess is worshipped as Mahishasuramardhini.
Atop the hill, there is a life-size statue of demon Mahishasura, whom the Devi is believed to have vanquished at this spot. Shrines dedicated to Shiva as Mahabaleshwara and Vishnu as Lakshmi Narayana are situated near the Chamundi temple.
The summit of Chamundi Hill is about 13 km from Mysore city. The 20 minute drive uphill negotiating hairpin bends proves to be an interesting experience. From the metro bus station, buses ply to the hill with a frequency of 10 15 minutes.
