bottles.Whole Coorg district is filled with festivities and enthusiasm on this day. The Tula Sankramana Kodagu in Karnataka is celebrated in the first day of Kodava month of Toleyar. It is celebrated as the birthday of Cauvery. It is celebrated on 17th October every year. There is a belief that Devakanta got a dream of Parvati where she asked Devakanta to bring the family members of her father in Balamuri and wait till she arrives there.
The family members of Chandravarma took bath in the holy waters of river Cauvery and they were purified. There is a belief that Goddess Cauvery came as a sudden upsurge of water in the small tank to provide sight of her presence to the devotees who has gathered there.There is a congregation of thousands of devotees from across the state at Kodagu who come to watch the holy event and enjoy. They take holy baths in the river water and also carry water back home.

On this day the people gather at the origin of the river and wait for the miracle to occur. According to popular belief Goddess Cauvery emerges out of the dry spring on a particular day at a specific time. It is widely believed that Devkanta was instructed by the Goddess to the family members of her father and waits for her in Balamuri. The family members of Chandravarma bathed in this water and were cleansed. Following this old tradition devotees come here to take a dip in the river. At this time of the year the city is resplendent with lights and colors.
