Minicoy is one of the major places of tourist interest
in Lakshadweep. In terms of the location, Minicoy is
the southernmost island in the Lakshadweep archipelago.
Being about 10.6 km long, Minicoy is the second largest
island, next to Andrott. What gives the island its distinctive
character is its culture. The island's unique Maldivian
character also sets it apart from the northern group
of islands. The islanders are famed to be skilled sea-men.

Government of India, the British Union jack used to
be hoisted everyday atop the lighthouse.
