Badami Railway station quite easy to get to the town from the railway station by city bus. The main train connections include Gol Gumbaz Express and Bijapur-Gadag Passenger. Going north, Guledagudda Road is the next station and traveling
south, Mallapur is the nearest main station.Nearest railhead Badami (4 kms from Badami town) on the Hubli-Sholapur metre-gauge line.
Brindavan Garden
One of the most visited places in Mysore by locals and by tourists is the famous Brindavan Gardens. Located about 19kms from the heart of Mysore these beautiful gardens are laid out below the Krishnaraja Sagar dam built across the river Cauvery.
These gardens are famous for the illuminated dancing fountains that come to life after sunset. The Krishnaraja Sagar Dam (KRS) (known as Kannambadi to the locals) itself is a superb example of excellent engineering and itself is a tourist attraction in Mysore. Sir M. Vishveswariah, one of India's finest engineers, built it in 1924.
Mysore Palace
Mysore Palace is one of the most magnificent buildings. It is a sight not to be missed when it is illuminated on Sundays and festive occasions.
The
interior of the Palace is equally worth a visit, for its spacious halls,
called Mantaps, paintings and architectural beauty.
The palace is an
excellent combination of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The domes and
the outside construction are of Muslim architecture. But the interior
of the Palace is a fine example of Hindu architecture. Together, it
is an aesthetic blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture.s

Palace of Mysore is a city of palaces, but the most magnificent of them all is the Mysore Palace sometimes known as the Main Palace as well. One of the most unforgettable images 
of the city is the image of the illuminated Mysore Palace against the dark black sky.
It takes ninety seven thousand light bulbs to produce this enchanting image of the Palace.
The Palace is situated in the middle of the city and is a reminder of the grandeur of a bygone era and is today an invaluable national treasure. The Palace that stands today is the fourth one to be built in the same site.
When the capital was shifted back to Mysore from Srirangapatnam, after Tippu Sultan's death, the Palace was hastily rebuilt with wood and mud, in a Hindu style.
