The Sasangir Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat was built in the year of 1965 on 18th September. Initially the sanctuary was a Forest Reserve and the main attraction of the Reserve was the Asiatic lions.
The sanctuary covers almost 1,412 square kilometers of area. In the beginning the Asiatic Lions were not kept in this sanctuary. However, since 1884, the sanctuary became home to these interesting species of lions.
